I had a dream last night that I was staying in some kind of boarding house, which seemed to have insufficient bathrooms. There was also something about a really filthy trash can hidden in the woods. Then, either later in that dream or in a subsequent one, I was driving
bethje and her Uncle John somewhere, and I ended up getting lost in a circle, and going into the building of some organization. It was weird.
Anyway, as I promised yesterday, I have some comments on the new Laura Cantrell album, Humming by the Flowered Vine. My favorite song on the album is probably "California Rose," which Ms. Cantrell wrote herself. I also like "14th Street" and "Wishful Thinking" quite a bit. There's also a version of "Poor Ellen Smith," which Neko Case had done on Canadian Amp. I think I like Neko's version better (I have a particular fondness for the banjo part), but Laura's is longer, and definitely good in its own right. I have a general tendency to be drawn to the upbeat songs first, though. Well, upbeat in terms of music, anyway; I certainly wouldn't say "Wishful Thinking," for instance, is at all upbeat in its subject matter. The slower songs will probably take me a little longer to appreciate, but Laura's vocals and the instrumental parts are always great. None of the songs on this album would rank up there with my all-time favorite Laura Cantrell songs ("Cellar Door," "Churches Off The Interstate," and "All The Same To You" would be the big three there), but it's still a very good album.
I have to remember to put my umbrella in the car today. Not that I think it's going to rain, but it's never there when I DO need it.
Hmm...I don't think those first two things are true at all. The others are more or less true, I suppose.

The True You |
You want your girlfriend or boyfriend to be more open with you.
With respect to money, you spend as little as possible.
You think good luck is something you won't attain - you expect bad luck.
The hidden side of your personality tends to be satisfied to care for things with a minimal amount of effort.
You are tend to think about others' feelings a lot, perhaps because you are so eager to be liked.
When it comes to finding a romantic partner, you don't have any particular type in mind, but you are inclined to look for someone who will say yes when you ask him / her out.
Hmm...I don't think those first two things are true at all. The others are more or less true, I suppose.
