The Living House on the Left
May. 25th, 2005 06:52 pmApparently, I'd been receiving e-mail through a work account for the year and a half I've been working at this library, but I didn't even know it until today. Most of it consisted of mass mailings for things that didn't concern me; it's not like I missed out on any important information. Still, I wish I'd known that account existed, and how to access it, before today.
The night before last, I had a dream that I was reading a Discworld/Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy crossover, written by Piers Anthony. The whole concept makes absolutely no sense, and I don't recall it really having anything to do with EITHER actual series, although I think Zaphod Beeblebrox might have appeared as a character. I wish I could recall what happened in it, because there were some parts that I thought were funny within the dream. I even remember planning to write a journal entry about it. (Is it pathetic that I sometimes dream about planning journal entries?)
I'm also excited about a book that actually DOES exist (or at least will, in the near future). Edward Einhorn, the author of Paradox in Oz, has finished his new Oz book, The Living House of Oz. It's now available for preorder from Hungry Tiger Press. I think I might go ahead and order it soon. The first chapter can be read on the website, and it sounds good so far. Apparently there will be some action in Tonsoria, an Ozian kingdom introduced in Paradox.
After work last night,
bethje, her cousin Dorothea, and I went out to eat at Applebee's. Then Beth and I watched Last House on the Left, Wes Craven's first movie. I really don't know WHAT to make of it. It's a horror movie with a very disturbing premise, yet it also contains bumbling cops and elements of Home Alone. Then there's the music, which is generally upbeat, and pretty much never seems to fit what's happening on the screen. I don't really know what Wes was going for with that.
I don't know that ANY of those are accurate, except maybe the first one.
I got this from
jenhime, but I'm modifying the rules a bit to make it more interesting.

It looks like I've seen 85, not counting my own additions.

Don't even front
Date: 2005-05-25 11:47 pm (UTC)And I thought you wanted to see X-Men 2 and Trainspotting, but maybe I made that up.
And you should want to see Urban Legend, as it had some intersting parts and a neat premise.

Date: 2005-05-26 12:28 am (UTC)Yeah, that's right. I knew I'd seen a little bit of the second one, but I forgot that I'd seen any of the first.
And yeah, I guess I WOULD like to see Trainspotting and Urban Legend. X-Men 2...well, it's not a very high priority as far as movies go, but I certainly wouldn't mind seeing it. I believe I shall edit accordingly.
