This game has now been up for about a week, so I suppose if anyone other than the two people who have already participated had wanted to do so, they would have done so by now. I'm a little disappointed with the turnout, but oh well. Here are the answers:

1. They Might Be Giants
Song: It's Not My Birthday, as I mentioned in a few other recent posts, and [livejournal.com profile] bethje answered correctly. "Birdhouse In Your Soul" ([livejournal.com profile] countblastula's guess) also ranks quite highly as far as TMBG songs go. (But then, who DOESN'T love that one?)
Album: Lincoln, as [livejournal.com profile] countblastula guessed. It's not as consistent as Apollo 18, or as well-produced as John Henry, but I still love it.

2. XTC
Song: It's really hard for me to pick an overall favorite song by them, so there would have been several possible answers. "Burning With Optimism's Flames," which was mentioned by [livejournal.com profile] bethje is indeed a favorite of mine. I also have a great fondness for "Helicopter," "Senses Working Overtime," "Gold," "1000 Umbrellas," "Season Cycle," "Wrapped In Grey," "The Wheel And The Maypole," and, well, too many others to mention.
Album: Skylarking. Possibly my favorite album of all time.

3. Tori Amos
Song: The one I consider my absolute favorite, as mentioned by [livejournal.com profile] bethje, is "Black Dove (January)."
Album: Under the Pink

4. Pixies
Song: Velouria. [livejournal.com profile] bethje got it right.
Album: Bossanova

5. Camper Van Beethoven
Song: If pressed for a favorite, I might say "She Divines Water," although I also love "We Love You," "June," and probably some others I'm forgetting just now.
Album: Probably Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart, although their self-titled third album comes close.

6. Laura Cantrell
Song: I don't know my absolute favorite, but my top three would be "Cellar Door," "Churches Off The Interstate," and "All The Same To You."
Album: Well, she only really has two (although a new one is apparently coming out later this year), and I prefer Not the Tremblin' Kind to When the Roses Bloom Again.

7. Young Fresh Fellows
Song: Here's another one on which I'm not totally sure, but I might go with "Hang Out Right" or "Sittin' On A Pitchfork." [livejournal.com profile] bethje's guess of "When The Girls Get Here" is also one I like a lot.
Album: Probably This One's for the Ladies

8. Hypnotic Clambake
Song: The Philosopher. [livejournal.com profile] bethje got it right.
Album: Kent the Zen Master

9. Moxy Früvous
Song: BJ Don't Cry. Again, [livejournal.com profile] bethje had the right answer.
Album: Bargainville

10. Frank Black
Song: I'd probably say "Bullet." "Headache" ([livejournal.com profile] bethje's guess) is also an excellent one, though.
Album: Teenager of the Year

11. Neko Case
Song: Guided By Wire, as [livejournal.com profile] bethje guessed
Album: Furnace Room Lullaby

12. Minus 5
Song: I might say either "Retrieval Of You" or "Queen's Head." Probably the former.
Album: I Don't Know Who I Am

13. Tom Lehrer
Song: The Vatican Rag
Album: That Was the Year That Was. [livejournal.com profile] countblastula got both the song and the album.

14. Cracker
Song: Happy Birthday To Me. [livejournal.com profile] bethje answered it correctly.
Album: Forever

15. Posies
Song: I might say "Under Easy," although it was "Ironing Tuesdays" that really made me take notice of the band.
Album: Their first one, Failure. I don't think it has a weak track.

Now you can guess what my LEAST favorite song and album by each band is. :P No, seriously, I don't know that I really have a least favorite song by most of my favorite artists, although I could probably name a least favorite album by each one, if pressed to it.

"Retrieval Of You" is one of my favorite Minus 5 songs. I always thought it'd segue really well into "Western Union" by the Five Americans.

Also, I'm glad that other people really like Forever. I think that might be my favorite album, too.

Yeah, Forever is really cool. Before I'd heard it, my favorite Cracker album was probably the self-titled debut.
