I don't know why, but the concept of Food Guilt and Rationalization has been kind of getting on my nerves as of late. You know, like when someone says something like, "I feel really guilty for eating this, but I am anyway because it's low-fat and low-carb and has eight essential vitamins and minerals and blah blah rationalizing." I guess I do that myself on occasion (like when I have pizza for dinner multiple days in a row, and justify it by telling myself that I'll have something with some actual nutritional value the NEXT day), but it sometimes seems to be too pervasive in our culture. I guess my thought is, if something is bad for you but you know you're going to eat it anyway, just go ahead and do it. Or at least keep the rationalizing to yourself. I don't know.

I got over my cold, but I think my allergies might be firing up. I wonder if I still have any medicine left over from last year. I guess I'll look, and take some if they start getting bad. So far, I've just been doing a little sneezing.

I got this survey from [livejournal.com profile] lozenger8:

1. What time did you get up this morning? Got up at 8:45, went back to bed a little after 11, and got up again around 12:15

2. Diamonds or pearls? I don't know. Diamonds are shiny, but pearls have a cooler shape.

3. What's the last film you saw in the cinema?: The Ring Two

4. What's your favourite TV show?: The Simpsons

5. What did you have for breakfast?: Two cups of yogurt, one peach and one blueberry

6. What's your middle name? It's my mom's last name, and everybody pronounces it incorrectly when they see it.

7. Favourite cuisine? Americanized Italian

8. What foods do you dislike? Most bitter-tasting things, and some kinds of vegetables (which makes me sound like a whiny little kid)

9. What's your favourite crisp flavour? I like the regular kind.

10. What is your favourite CD at the moment?: Hmm...the Decemberists and Fastbacks albums I got last week are pretty cool. I've mostly been listening to MP3s on random as of late, though.

11. What kind of car do you drive?: A green Ford Focus

12. Favourite sandwich?: Ham and cheese

13. What characteristic do you despise?: General hatefulness

14. Favourite item of clothing?: I'm quite fond of my Super Mario Bros. T-shirts.

15. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation where would you
go?: Well, I do kind of want to see England.

16. What colour is your bathroom?: I think the tiles are gray, and the floor kind of off-white.

17. Favourite brand of clothing?: I don't really pay attention to brands.

18. Where would you retire to?: Home

19. Favourite time of day?: I don't know. Afternoons and evenings, I guess.

20. What is your most memorable birthday?: I remember my eighth pretty well.

21. Where were you born?: In a hospital in southeastern Pennsylvania

22. Favourite sport to watch?: None of them

23. Who do you least expect to do this?: Everyone

24. Person you expect to do it first?: Nobody

25. What detergent do you use?: I haven't done my own laundry in some time, but I think I always used All in college.

26. How many loads of laundry do you do a week?: None. If I were living alone, I'd probably only do one per week.

27. Are you a morning person, or a night person? : More night than morning, but I think I'm usually at my best in the afternoons.

28. What is your shoe size?: Ten and a half

29. Favourite colour?: Red

30. Do you have any pets?: My sister has a cat.

31. Any new and exciting news you'd like to share with friends and
family?: It looks like I might be starting at a new position at the library fairly soon.

As long as I'm stealing things, [livejournal.com profile] revme linked to this list of the top 25 Sesame Street moments. I think [livejournal.com profile] bethje and I were just talking about that typewriter last week or so.

This Sesame Street list made my night!!! It's like I was listening to those songs yesterday. I really wonder how much stuff is in my mind that I'd instantly remember if I heard it...

I enjoy that list. Well, probably would, since I posted it. I, in turn, swiped it from Metafilter, actually. So, yes, hooray!

And, yeah, I like the typewriter.

I wish they'd release a DVD set of those types of bumpers for the Older Set. Just, like, 2 or 3 DVDs, like they did with Schoolhouse Rock of just a bunch of the random old bumpers and bits, without having to worry about, say, the Slapstick Cake Falling Man Counting To Ten Who Ruled But I Guess Isn't Allowed To Be Aired Anymore corrupting kids. Because, dammit, dude with 10 cakes falling is _hilarious_.

All Dudes With Ten Cakes Must Fall.

But seriously, I would buy that in a second. I would so buy that, that I am getting my wallet out and mashing it against the montior in confusion and angst over the fact that I cannot find where to obtain such a thing as it does not exist.

CTW, Are You Listening? Perhaps you'd listen if I referred to you by your new name Sesame Workshop? Huh? How About Now?
