Art Garfunkel played at some singer-songwriter weekend, which we actually attended to see TMBG. Beyond the ones I got from [livejournal.com profile] zaph, I tried to stick to artists who were the headliners, or at least the Main Act I Came To See.

The Prioress
You scored 23% Cardinal, 61% Monk, 58% Lady, and 24% Knight!
You are a moral person and are also highly intellectual. You like your solitude but are also kind and helpful to those around you. Guided by a belief in the goodness of mankind you will likely be christened a saint after your life is over.

You scored high as both the Lady and the Monk. You can try again to get a more precise description of either the Monk or the lady, or you can be happy that you're an individual.

My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

I thought I was the only person who ever heard of Hypnotic Clambake.

They're actually mentioned in the TMBG FAQ (http://www.tmbg.org/band-info/faq/#q23) as another band that TMBG fans might like. They're also favorably compared to Camper Van Beethoven, a band I was getting into when Hypnotic Clambake played an Earth Day festival thing near my school, back in 1999. I thought the show was really cool, and I eventually ended up buying all their major albums. Unfortunately, they don't play much in my area. If I hadn't gone to college in western Pennsylvania, I doubt I ever would have seen them.

Albums?? As in plural??

I met those guys shortly before their release of "Squaredance Messiah"... and I was at the CD release party...

I was with a group of guys then who were supposed to be putting together a comedy group called "The Tall Boys". We had just finished filming and editing our first skit... and I was thinking that we could include local bands and singers in the middle of the skits... and wanted to film Hypnotic Clambake...

but the other members of "The Tall Boys" were lazy... and in the end, I was the only one actually doing anything... and it all fell apart.

I had no idea that Hypnotic Clambake made anymore albums. Are they still together???

Yeah, they're still together, but all the members except Maury Rosenberg seem to change around quite a bit between albums. I guess it's basically just him and whoever he wants to play with at the time. They just put out a new album, called Mayonnaise, earlier this year. In between Square Dance and that one, they had Gondola To Heaven, Kent the Zen Master (my personal favorite), and Varicose Brain, as well as a few live albums.
