The Waiting Game
Apr. 8th, 2005 07:26 pmSo, I finally went to get my car serviced today. It cost a considerable amount, but I'm hoping it will save me money in the long run. I guess that's the whole point of regular maintenance. What was really annoying was how long it took. It must have been at least four hours. I brought my Game Boy Advance and played that for a little while, but the battery ran low. Then I finished re-reading Sky Island, but there was still quite a bit of waiting to do after that, and nothing to occupy that time. I hadn't eaten before going there, so I was obviously quite hungry by the time they were done. For dinner (and breakfast and lunch, I suppose), I decided to try a meatball sub from Quizno's. It was pretty good, particularly the toasted bread and the multiple kinds of cheese, but I think the sauce tasted a bit odd. Too sweet, or something. I don't know. I probably would get that kind of sub again, though.
After eating, I went to Circuit City and bought a copy of the new Decemberists album, which I'm listening to right now. I like it pretty well so far. In the near future, I think I might do a little bit more work on my Oz manuscript.
Oh, I called about that rebate again, and they said it usually took about fourteen days to process the information received in a fax. While not a problem in and of itself, this many days would take me past the original deadline. Both this lady and the last one I talked to said that wouldn't be a problem, so I guess I'll have to trust them. If it turns out they were wrong, I got their names, so I can tell the rebate people who it was who gave me the faulty information.
I wish more people would try the music guessing game in my last post. Oh, well. It IS pretty difficult.
