No Children
Apr. 3rd, 2005 12:52 amI already posted these first two paragraphs (after this one, that is) to the
yff community, and I doubt anyone else will care, but I'm going to post them here anyway.
Scott McCaughey has an Amazon recommendation page. Well, it's either him or someone pretending to be him, which used to not be that hard to do on Amazon, but might be a little more difficult now. I remember when their listing for John Linnell's State Songs had a "comment from the author" saying something along the lines of "Hey, look at me! I'm John Linnell!" It doesn't seem to be there anymore, though. So, yeah, I'm guessing this probably really IS Scott.
In other Amazon news, the page for the Young Fresh Fellows' The Men Who Loved Music calls the album "World of Today." Also, links elsewhere on Amazon identify the band as "Flop." This is apparently a real band and album, but how it got mixed up with the Fellows' album is a mystery. EDIT:
revme informs me that Kurt Bloch produced the album, so I guess it DOES have a connection to the Fellows. It's still really weird, though.
I've pretty much finished my taxes (I just need to photocopy my New Jersey form, and mail off that and my local stuff), and, if I've done my math correctly, it looks like I'll be getting back a grand total of $17. At least I pretty much broke even, but I was hoping for a little more. I need to move to an area that doesn't have the local income tax.

One of the questions on the quiz was about kids, which was actually an issue I had been considering writing an entry about, but I couldn't think of a way to make it seem totally out of nowhere. Basically, I don't want kids, not just because I just don't have the drive to carry on my genes, but also because I don't think I could handle the responsibility. I mean, I really can't deal with most of what comes up in my OWN life, let alone somebody else's. And what if the kid ended up being really troublesome, or having a lot of problems? What would I do about that? I just can't see myself as a father. Of course, this isn't relevant to anything, but it's something I think about sometimes.
