It's now been seven years since
bethje adopted Reagan.
Here's what Beth wrote about her back then, including somewhat of an explanation of the name. If either of us were going to name a cat after a president, I don't think it would have been that one. We usually just call her Rea. She lay in Beth's lap on the first day, but she hardly ever sits in laps now. On the other hand, it's good she no longer has parasites. I wasn't living with Beth at the time, but when I moved in she took a liking to me, and Beth decided she's my other wife. She celebrated her anniversary by trying to eat our KFC. She's always trying to take food, but she usually isn't sure what to do with it unless it's in tiny pieces. Sometimes she'll just lick at it. Didn't anyone ever tell her she has those sharp teeth for a reason? It seems like she'll eat anything other than her dry food, although I've seen her grudgingly eat that when there was nothing else. She's eaten pumpkin bread and sour cream and onion chips, and even when something isn't to her taste she wants to check it out first. Our other cat, Wally, likes dry food and will hardly ever eat table food, although he's occasionally been known to lick the salt off chips. Is it possible he needs more salt in his diet?
Speaking of KFC, is it weird that, even though I like their food, I don't like going there because I'm never sure what to order? They have too many things on the menu that are all basically the same thing (pieces of chicken, of course), but they vary in subtle ways. We tried the boneless chicken for the first time today, and Beth asked how it was different from the crispy strips, other than the shape and size. I'm not sure it really is. By the way, the boneless chicken only comes in Extra Crispy, and only in white meat.
I haven't been working quite as much recently. It's typical for there to be a reduction in hours at Walmart after the holiday season. It's a relief in some ways, although of course it also means I'm not making as much money. Not that I'm really making much use of my free time, as it often seems that all I want to do is sleep.
