1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't have any, and I don't plan to make any.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Well,
bethje's cousin and aunt both did.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
My great-grandmother did, as did Beth's uncle's dog Gypsy.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. I haven't left the States since 1987 or so.
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
A full-time job
7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I really can't think of any offhand. Maybe some of them will become important in retrospect, though.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Well, one of my Oz stories is being considered for Oziana. Don't know if it'll make it, but it's an honor just to be nominated, right? {g}
9. What was your biggest failure?
Not getting a full-time job
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing serious, no.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
I'm pretty fond of my Game Boy Advance SP.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
There are celebrations for behavior now?
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I'm going to go along with several other people who took this quiz, and say Bush and the people who voted for him.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Transportation, probably
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The release of a new They Might Be Giants album was pretty exciting. Not sure about "really, really, really," though.

I don't know that I generally associate songs with years. Albums, maybe, but in that case it would be pretty much every new album I've heard this year.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier overall, I think. I've been kind of grumpy as of late, but I remember myself as being kind of depressed last December. The fact that I waited longer to do my Christmas shopping probably didn't help matters.

Writing

Hmm, what did I even read this year? Going Postal, by Terry Pratchett, was good.

While I didn't really "discover" them this year per se, I finally got some Magnetic Fields albums.

On my 27th birthday, I went out to an Italian restaurant with Beth, then went to work, then had cake at my mom's house.

The same as it's been for the past few years. T-shirts at home, shirts with buttons at work. I also very rarely wear jeans.

I don't know that I HAVE been sane.

Dick Cheney! Okay, I'm just kidding. Seriously, John Ashcroft.

Well, there's the election in general, but, based on how much I wrote about it, I think gay marriage might have been the biggest one.

Um, everyone I knew but didn't see?

The only new people I can really recall meeting this year were

God has abandoned the local congregations.
