A Monkee in New Jersey
Sep. 9th, 2012 03:13 pmYesterday,
bethje and I went down to Edison to see Micky Dolenz perform at an event there. Here are some not-so-great pictures I took:

It was raining on and off throughout, which probably affected turnout as well as our comfort, but it was a good concert. His sister Coco was there with him, and they sang Carole King's "Crying in the Rain" together. She also sang "Different Drum" (written for Linda Ronstadt, as you probably know, by Mike Nesmith) and Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" while her brother was offstage taking breaks. In case you didn't know, Coco is the one who sang with Micky on the Monkees song "Shorty Blackwell."
Micky didn't come out to sign things after the show (at least as far as we could tell; I have a habit of missing such things on occasion), and we got to hear some woman rant about she came all the way from Buffalo and was mad because she couldn't get her album signed. You DO realize he has no obligation to do so, right, Buffalo lady? Anyway, as you may know, there are plans for Micky, Peter, and Mike to play some shows together in November, and Beth bought tickets for a few of them in the area. Let's hope no one drops out at the last minute.
After the concert, we went to eat at Pizza Hut, which I'm glad Beth agreed to. Believe it or not, she generally doesn't much care for pizza, but she said she liked what we had yesterday. When we go there together, we pretty much always get a Cheese Lovers' pizza with mushrooms and light sauce, as well as some cheese breadsticks. Then we drove about five miles out of our way to go to a Dairy Queen that turned out to be closed. Boo for Dairy Queens that close early! Okay, it was after eleven, but there are other Dairy Queens that stay open later than that.
