Going for the Silver
Apr. 14th, 2010 11:35 pmOkay, I haven't done a meme like this in a while, so why not?
Comment if you'd like a color. Then list ten things that you like/love which are that color.
I got this from
radiantwterror, who gave me silver/gray.
1. Gray tabby cats - My first pet, Arthur, was one. I'll need to hunt up a picture of him at some point, but for now, here's a generic picture.

2. Elephants - I think kids often tend to have a thing for enormous animals, which is why elephants are popular in children's books. And I, for one, still like them.

3. Silver Shoes - You DO know that the shoes in the book of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz were silver, not ruby, right? Henry Littlefield claimed they had something to do with the Silver Standard, but I don't think that's too likely. I like real silver-colored shoes as well.

4. Nomes - Speaking of Oz, the Nomes are described as being gray in color. While largely the same as the gnomes of folklore, L. Frank Baum changed the spelling to make the word easier to pronounce. Their former ruler, Ruggedo (originally Roquat), is a recurring villain in the books.

5. Stone castles - They just look neat and imposing, don't they?

6. Nintendo Entertainment System - They've been released in different forms since, but I'm sure anyone around my age remembers this as a gray box with a door.

7. Hippopotamuses - Another big animal that I've always liked.

8. Silver dresses - And shiny, metallic-looking dresses in general, really.

9. Silver Orb - If you've played Dragon Quest/Warrior III, you know how difficult it is to get this Orb, and how much of a relief it is when you finally obtain it.

10. Eeyore - While he's usually colored sort of blue in the Disney adaptations, the original stories described him as "the old grey donkey." I think he might have led to my general appreciation of curmudgeonly characters.

(If you're giving out colors, I'll take one too.)

Your color is yellow.
