Will You Count Me In?
Mar. 4th, 2010 01:24 pmFor this installment of songs that I find irritating, we'll take a look at something called "Bubbly," by our old friend Colbie Caillat. Wait, did I call her an "old friend"? Actually, I know nothing about her other than this song, and the fact that she guest starred in an Archie comic.

You know, flowers in a girl's hair are often a sure way to my heart, but you're not doing it for me, Colbie. And what's with that spelling of your name, anyway? It's not how the cheese spells it!
Anyway, I never liked the song, but I found it positively disturbing when I learned that one of the lines was "I get the tinglies in a silly place." Um, Colbie, I think that's the kind of thing you should get checked out by your gynecologist. And the line right before it is "every time I see your bubbly face." Um, is that something like this?

Or maybe this?

Or she could mean this.

Regardless, someone who uses cutesy slang like that is probably the sort who's going to get preggers from her hubby. And that just makes me want to toss my cookies.
As for the chorus, with its "starts in my toes, makes me crinkle my nose" stuff, that kind of reminds me of Winnie-the-Pooh's "Tiddly Pom" song. Which I guess isn't a bad thing, except it reminds me that Pooh Bear is a much better songwriter than Colbie.
