Meh, I think those 'ideas' about Link about just based on what he wears. Well, back in the day ALL guys dressed something like that.
Yeah, I figure that Link's look is largely based on Robin Hood, and he wasn't gay (just merry {g}). I've never seen any indication that Link's outfit is at all out of place in Hyrule, with the possible exception of Tingle thinking he's a fairy.
I always remember thinking it was poorly done...I liked Mario better (and the live action parts) because I thought if you were going to have a story where nothing is ever ended, Mario fits better into that always searching quest than the epic adventure land of Link (which sort of needs an ending IMHO to feel worth while)
I agree. Zelda doesn't translate too well to an episodic format, while with Mario, the games themselves are like that. Bowser always had the air of cartoon villain to him, while reducing an epic monster like Ganon to a guy with a weekly scheme kind of doesn't respect how he's presented in the games.
