    Cool. Carolyn hugged my wife and me after a show, and we've been devoted fans ever since. Saw Sloan live a few times, too. #
  • 22:45 I never watched all of the original "Clash of the Titans." I remember not liking that they mixed up Titans and Gorgons, because I'm a dork. #

I didn't like the mashup of the Greek myths either, but I guess it made enough of an impact on people to become a cult classic. I have to wonder why they added Caliban, a Shakespearean character. It did a much better job of sticking to the original myths than Disney's "Hercules", however.

Zooey Deschanel is a really pretty actress with a nice voice and everything, but so far the characters I've seen her play are kinda snotty or annoying ("500 Days of Summer" and "The Happening").

The excuse I always hear when people discuss inaccurate adaptations of myths is usually that the myths themselves were all different. Which is a fair point, but I'm not sure why that has to mean adding in even MORE discrepancies. Oh, well. I guess it's more important to stick to the spirit than the letter when adapting such material.

I haven't seen either of those, but I kind of get the impression she's becoming typecast as of late, and can't get as much variety in roles as she could when she wasn't as popular with the indie/hipster crowd. I think the first thing I saw her in was either Elf or The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; I forget which of those came first. While I didn't have any particular problem with her performance in the latter, I did think, "Isn't Trillian supposed to be British?" But then, we've already established that I'm a nitpicking dork. {g}

Ford is also black in the movie, something not mentioned in the books. Which really doesn't matter, but you think such a nitpicky author as DNA would have mentioned how unusual or non-unusual his features were and what he looked like as a human. He mostly mentions the weird looks that people give Ford, based on his personality.

I believe there was one mention in the books of Ford having red hair, but otherwise I don't see anything that precludes his being black. On the other hand, I don't think Mos Def really exuded the weirdness that Ford was said to have. The guy who played the role in the BBC production looked more like I would think Ford SHOULD look.
