Okay, what I thought was a bruised toe turns out to actually be an ingrown toenail. Is that too much information? I don't know; I'm always surprised by some of the incredibly mundane things that other people seem to consider "TMI," as well as by the matters that I'd never mention but on which some others are incredibly frank. Anyway, I guess I'll make a doctor's appointment when I can, but I don't know how soon that will be.

When flipping through channels last night, bethje and I caught the tail end of some show on hippies. You know, I agree with the hippies on a fair number of things (like that peace is a cool idea and the environment is important), but the footage they show on TV always makes them look so dirty. I mean, I'm not exactly Mr. Neatness myself, but I doubt I'd be able to attend one of their love-ins or music festivals without having a Marc Summers sort of fear. It doesn't help that the film they used on this show looked pretty gritty in and of itself.

I've had ingrown tonails before. They hurt like a mofo, but the doctor-fixing part isn't too awfully bad, and it'll feel better in a bit.

I am kind of amused by that whole TMI thing, too. "Well, all of a sudden I started bleeding from my anus, and then I had to shove some of the organs back in after my intestine became dislodged and was trying to fall out, but win some lose some. Also -- TMI -- I cut my fingernail a bit too far, down to the quick! Ow!"

But if your organs had become dislodged that would, in fact, be information rather worth knowing since it's likely to have had a bit if an effect, so, yeah, who really needs to know about the fingernail?

By any chance, was it the History Channel documentary on hippies that made them look "dirty?" If so, I read an article about that about how much those people who the director interviewed were disgusted with his "agenda" and twisted everything around so much to fit his preconceived "hippies are dirty" angle.

It's kind of weird that I'd never gotten one before, especially considering that I don't exactly have the world's neatest toenails. But yeah, I don't expect it to be too much trouble, but the doctor's office I go to isn't open again until Monday, and I have no idea how soon they'll be able to give me an appointment. So I have to suffer at least until then.

Yeah, I think people tend to use "TMI" when it's a case of something they think others would rather not know, not just when it isn't important. Because, really, if it were a case of only relaying important information, most of our journals would probably only have a few posts per year.

It might have been. I don't remember for sure. It's not like that's the only footage I've seen where hippies looked dirty, but it did look like they were putting more effort into it than usual.
