It Has No Meaning at All
Jan. 21st, 2013 11:36 pmI probably should be accomplishing something while unemployed, but I'm not. Being productive just isn't my natural state, I suppose. I do feel it was somewhat of an accomplishment to get a range extender so the Internet on my computer wouldn't be so spotty, but that was
bethje's idea, not mine. I also have a bookshelf now, but there are still books I can't find a place for. Lack of space is one of the biggest impediments to being organized, although laziness is another major one.
Last weekend, Beth and I went to see Rasputina open for the GZA. There were a lot of openers, actually, but the only other one we saw any of was some band I didn't care for. Rasputina's lineup consisted of Melora Creager plus three other cellists and a drummer. From what I understand, this is a new project of Melora's, and they didn't play any songs from the Rasputina albums. We stuck around for the GZA, and while I'm not much into rap, he was pretty good. He mentioned that ODB's mom and sister were at the show. Beth and I were talking about the Wu-Tang Clan on one of our drives back up to North Jersey not too long ago.
This past weekend, in addition to finally seeing The Hobbit, I went to a Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker show. I hadn't seen either band in a while, so that was fun. They played a good selection of stuff, including most of the songs on the new Camper album. I can't recall if I'd ever heard CVB play "One of These Days" or "Seven Languages" live before, but they stood out for me. I also bought the new album, La Costa Perdida, at the concert, and I'll probably review it soon. Beth and I ate at Red Lobster on Friday, which is always pretty good, but I don't think I'll get the shrimp with linguine again. The shrimp are tasty, but the pasta isn't. Anyway, Beth isn't that thrilled by Red Lobster anymore, and I'm not sure I am either. Oh, well.
