  • 06:43 @kittysneezes No, it has an INITIAL for a dirty word in the title! {g} #
  • 06:46 @oz_diggs You mean like "Three-Headed Elvis Clone Found in Flying Saucer Over Oz"? #
  • 06:54 @eehouls Sure, but I don't know that my words carry much clout. {g} #
  • 06:56 @DVDBoxSet You mean you don't take it as a compliment, because it means you look young? :P #
  • 06:58 @TheRealTavie As do I, although I don't think I ever read any of the same groups you did. I first knew @3x1minus1 from Usenet, though. #
  • 19:45 @samuraifrog But would the resurrection of Captain Planet be as surprising as a revolution of America? #
  • 19:46 @JaredofMo Yes, it does. #
  • 19:48 I should start bringing more snacks to work, and not a full lunch. #
  • 19:52 @oz_diggs Hasn't that been on Chris Dulabone's back burner for, like, 20 years? Cool that it's finally getting published. #
  • 19:56 @InBloomers Because I shot it. #
  • 19:57 Happy birthday, @JaredofMo and @mshowalter! #
  • 20:01 Are the Tanners from Full House related to the Tanners from ALF? #
  • 20:15 I still don't want kids, but that might be the only way I could ever go back to Sesame Place. #
  • 20:47 I used to hate how people always thought I was younger than I was, but that's probably a good thing now that I'm in my thirties. #
  • 22:53 Ah, people are supporting democracy in Iran. I thought the Guardian of the Gates had slipped some green glasses on me. #

Since I've been on kind of a clown kick this week, I would feel remiss if I didn't mention the Fools' Guild of Ankh-Morpork, an institution in the Discworld series. And [livejournal.com profile] vilajunkie recommended that I try writing some more Discworld-related posts, so I guess I'm killing two birds with one stone. Or is that one custard pie?

The Guild is actually a very dreary place, where fools in training go through their routines with no sense of fun for themselves, and new jokes have to be approved by a council. The leader is Dr. Whiteface, a clown with (surprise) a totally white face. The Guild trains both court fools and clowns, the latter of which are so devoted to their profession that they lose all sense of non-clown personality, and even (as seen in Men at Arms) consider their false noses to be real. Clowns' faces are registered by painting them on eggs, which is an actual practice in our world. For more information on the Fools' Guild, consult your local Librarian (ook!), or maybe this Wikipedia page.
