So, yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] bethje and I went to Manhattan for a talk by John Waters at the New York Society for Ethical Culture, which is on Central Park West. A lot of it was the same as on the This Filthy World DVD, but he updated some things. I found it quite enjoyable. Beth bought a VIP ticket for herself, so we sat apart at the event, and she got to meet him afterwards. I just sat in the hall outside the auditorium reading Richard Dawkins' The God Delusion during the meet-and-greet.

After leaving, we ended up just missing the PATH train back to New Jersey, and having to wait about half an hour for the next one. The monitors in the terminal kept announcing that "PATH trains run frequently." Yeah, I don't think twice an hour can really count as "frequent." And it was really hot and humid in the terminal, so waiting was not a pleasant experience. I guess I should be glad they run at all at after midnight. If it were Philadelphia, they probably wouldn't. But it's pretty much impossible for me to go to New York without getting really frustrated over something.
