There are a few things I've been meaning to write about; but between work, constantly running (not literally) to Philadelphia, and the cable being down yesterday, I haven't had the chance. The most important thing I have to say is that my roommate's cat Anderson is not doing well. He went in to the vet for a urinary tract infection, and they did surgery on him that was said to be 97% effective. It turns out that there's a problem with his urethra, and the scar tissue might not heal properly, which would make it impossible for him to urinate. We won't know whether this will be the case for another month or so. I want to have hope, but it seems like something always goes wrong when a pet has a potentially life-threatening problem. Cats and dogs already have really short lifespans compared to humans. Why do so many of them have to die so young? Anderson isn't even two years old yet. It makes me never want to get a pet of my own.

I'll post a more positive entry when I'm in the mood. Topics I might cover include Halloween costumes, Terry Pratchett's Making Money (which I finished yesterday), the Simpsons Season 10 DVD set, and what I've been doing in Philadelphia.
