Don't you forget about me

This old post (not to be confused with This Old House) has recently gotten spammed with comments consisting of nothing but a typical spam subject line (the most recent was "asian fucking porn star") and the word "MESSAGE." Since that was a post about junk mail, is this some kind of irony? Have the spam-bots discovered that concept yet? I've been dutifully deleting every one and reporting them as spam, but it's been getting a bit annoying.

Over the weekend, bethje and I watched Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club, both movies that were big in the eighties, but that we didn't watch back then. They also were both directed by John Hughes, and both starred Molly Ringwald (in, I might add, two completely opposite roles, sort of like how Robert Englund was on opposite sides of an angry mob of townspeople in Nightmare on Elm Street and Strangeland). They were both pretty good, although the ending of Pretty in Pink annoyed me. Ringwald's character fell for, and later forgave, that rich dude WAY too quickly. I think it's apparent that the filmmakers had some unresolved issues with high school, but then, who doesn't?

Something else I watched over the weekend were these two insane Mike Gravel videos, which are worth seeing if you haven't yet. Actually, you can stop the second one after the website address shows up, unless you really like watching campfires burn. I've seen enough images on the Web that looked unchanging, only to have a ghost pop out and scare the shit out of the viewer after a minute or two, that I half expected that to happen here, but it didn't. Anyway, the comments at those three links say more about them than I could, so I'm going to leave it at that.
