I had a weird dream that involved several things happening at the same time, and presumably some terrible scheduling on my part. I was supposed to cover the circulation desk of the library where I used to work, but I ended up being late. Also, I had to work back in New Jersey immediately afterwards, and my family was coming to visit. Other stuff in the dream involved getting a package that I think included either a tape or CD of rare Weird Al songs (in fact, I think I got the same package twice within the dream), and reading something on the Internet about how people hated the nanny in The Sims 2. Out of curiosity, I looked this up when I woke up from the dream, and there really ARE web pages where people say this. I'm not too surprised, since the nanny who's tended to all the Sim babies I've had so far has been kind of a creepy old lady (I'd probably be scared of her if I were a young Sim), and she often tends to ignore the kids' needs unless they're totally desperate. On the other hand, she's pretty much necessary if all of the adults in the household work, and she also cleans up. At some point, I should try to have someone make friends with the nanny and have her move in. I'm more likely to have someone do that with the maid first, though. The Sim maids are pretty much always sexy ladies, aside from that one guy. (I suppose he's technically a manservant, but who uses that term nowadays?)

I DID see a Sim saved from death, as well as a woman getting into a fistfight with her father, although I didn't save the game afterwards. It's weird, but I kind of feel bad about doing that stuff with my regular Sims. In the first Sims game, I'd sometimes create intentionally bad and stupid Sims when I felt like observing the negative parts of the game. I remember making a family (or maybe it was just one Sim) that actually had the last name "Dumbass." I also came up with the Elbow family, all but one of whom died of starvation.

[livejournal.com profile] bethje and I watched a couple of bad movies this weekend. One was Bad Taste, which was something Peter Jackson did back before he discovered hobbits. While I can kind of see the appeal of what's basically a cheap homemade movie with gore so over-the-top as to be ridiculous, I can't see why anyone would bother making it feature-length. If it had been ten minutes long, I might have enjoyed it. As it was, I was bored. The other one was Howard the Duck, which I'd somehow managed to avoid seeing before. Beth said she watched it several times when she was about six. I wonder what I would have thought of it back then.

We also watched part of Amelie, seeing as how we were probably the only two people in the world who hadn't gotten around to seeing it. I thought what I saw of it was really good, but the Netflix disc was damaged, so we'll have to wait a while to see the rest.
