Across the snow like an Eskimo man
Jan. 19th, 2007 08:56 amBeth, Dorothea, and I were planning on going to eat at Red Lobster, since I have a coupon. Last time we went there, they had a shrimp special on Tuesdays, so I thought it wouldn't make sense to go on a Thursday if the special still held. So I called the restaurant on the phone, and the guy I talked to said the Tuesday deal was no longer in effect. But once we actually got there, we saw that it was still on the menu, so we left and went to the Olive Garden instead. There are still a few more Tuesdays before my coupon expires, so I'll probably still be able to use it. Well, unless they discontinue that special next week or something.
It's been snowing a bit around here. I've been mentioning how much I hate snow for the past several winters, so I should probably ease up on that this year, unless I come up with something new to add. Maybe I'll also avoid writing an entry on the night of the Superbowl about how I didn't watch it, although I'm sure it will be tempting.
To move on to a totally unrelated topic, you know what song I used to hear on the radio all the time, but haven't at all recently? That "Piano In The Dark" song. According to what I dug up on the Internets, it's by Brenda Russell, who also wrote "Get Here" (although she didn't sing the version that gets played all the time). "Piano In The Dark" is probably a better song, if only because it doesn't include the line "across the desert like an Arab man." I mean, what's up with that line? I'm not sure why I thought of that song, but I did. I'm also not sure why I suddenly felt like looking up information on the Disney animated series Gargoyles, which I used to watch with my brother back when I was in high school. That was a quality show, though, especially for mythology buffs.
