It took me way too long to get to work today. According to the traffic reports, the reason for the heavy traffic on the Schuylkill Expressway was a tree-trimming crew shutting down the right lane, but they were gone by the time I got to where they had been. I have to wonder if part of the reason why lane closures cause such incredible delays is that people refuse to acknowledge them until the last minute. There could be a huge billboard with flashing lights and loudspeakers with the most commanding voice you could imagine, all announcing, "RIGHT LANE CLOSED AHEAD," and a lot of drivers are still going to drive in the right lane until it's physically impossible to do so (and sometimes even beyond that). There are even a few who will merge from the left lane INTO the right.

obsessical asked me some questions, so I might as well do my best to answer them.
1. What movie you could watch 1000 times over and never get sick of?
I'm going to say UHF, even though it's been a long time since I last watched it.
2. Did you ever play any sports when you were little (in school, little league, or whatever)?
Only the ones they forced us to play in gym class. Oh, and occasionally my dad would make us go outside and play baseball with a Whiffle ball and enormous, air-filled plastic bat. I've never really had any interest in watching or participating in sports.
3. What is your favorite kind of sandwich, and why?
Either a meatball or hot Italian sub. I just love the tastes of bread, cheese, and certain kinds of meat, all together. I prefer them without vegetables, although I'll sometimes force myself to include some lettuce or something. And hot sandwiches rock.
4. If you could have one wish, but you couldn't use it on you, you had to
use it on someone you hated, what would it be?
I think the most obvious choice would be getting Bush out of office.
5. Do you enjoy kites? Does anyone not enjoy kites?
I like kites, although it's been ages since I've flown one, and I don't remember ever getting that much of a flight out of one. As for the second question (or the second part of the question, anyway), I think Charlie Brown probably developed an incredible phobia of both kites and footballs in his later years.
