For our anniversary, I gave [livejournal.com profile] bethje Knitting for Dummies (and not because I think she's a dummy {g}), Sarah Vowell's Assassination Vacation, and that new Super Mario Bros. game that's actually CALLED "New Super Mario Bros." (I seem to recall that the working title was "Mushroom Kingdom," which I like better, but it's obviously not my decision. If it were, I'd probably also choose to spell out "Brothers." {g}) She gave me the first volume of Age of Bronze (Eric Shanower's graphic novel on the Trojan War) and two CD's: Rilo Kiley's Take Offs & Landings and the Magnetic Fields EP The House of Tomorrow. She's going to be getting me another gift, too.

We went out to the Olive Garden for dinner, which was good as usual. I had the Seafood Alfredo, which was pretty good, but I've had much better food there. For dessert, I had the berries-and-gelato thing that's only available in the summer.

Today, I got my car serviced, which took several hours. While I was waiting, I read some of Age of Bronze and some old issues of Oziana, and tried playing Phantasy Star II. I couldn't figure out what to do next, though (I guess I'll have to look at a walkthrough, even though that kind of seems like giving up), so I started a Phantasy Star III game. I also listened to my two new CD's, which I enjoyed. The best song on the Magnetic Fields EP is "Love Goes Home To Paris In The Spring," which I actually already knew. The Rilo Kiley album is pretty similar in many ways to the other ones I have, but since I like the sound of those, that's just fine with me. I like how "Don't Deconstruct" includes a trumpet, and the two "Variatinons on a Theme" tracks are pretty cool. Of the three Rilo Kiley albums I've heard, I think my favorite might actually be More Adventurous, even though I know that some other people's least favorite.
