But I've never called myself a hero for killing a known Islamist

For anyone who, like me, is interested in actually SEEING the controversial Danish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad, this site has them. Some of them really ARE pretty offensive, especially the one with the bomb-turban, and I'm not sure why the newspaper would have chosen to print them. I also heard on NPR that, since freedom of the press doesn't exist in many Islamic nations, the people there probably think the cartoons reflect the opinions of the Danish government, which seems to make sense. In addition, I've heard some people argue that making ANY image of Muhammad is offensive to Muslims. If this is true, it's another example of people trying to get those who don't follow their religion to obey its laws anyway, and I'm sure everyone knows I'm not down with that. I don't know whether this has been offered as an official reason for the riots, or just a possible motivation, though. I think the most important issue involved is that, as usual, small-minded people are seeing the actions of a violent radical minority as reflective of Islam in general. None of these opinions is in any way original, but I thought I'd weigh in on the issue.

Last night, Beth and I went out to eat at Fuddrucker's. They have good burgers (not to be confused with the movie Good Burger), and I like how you can fix them up yourself. I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't like lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise, etc. on my burgers. Usually I can just order them plain, but that confuses some people. I think it was at Ruby Tuesday where I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with nothing extra, and some genius apparently thought that meant I didn't want the bacon either. I've started ordering bacon cheeseburgers with "just bacon and cheese." Probably someone along the line will think that means I just want a pile of bacon and cheese, with no burger or bun. {g} So, yeah, I like to avoid the confusion altogether. I also like that Fuddrucker's value meals come with cookies. The oatmeal raisin cookie I had was really good. I think I tasted some cinnamon in it.

EDIT: Happy belated birthday (two days late) to not_glimmer, who will almost definitely never see this.
