Today, I bought the Decemberists EP, The Tain. I also considered getting the 16 Military Wives single, but I decided against it, at least for the time being.

After that, I went grocery shopping. I paid for my food (mostly frozen stuff, because I am such a healthy eater :P) with a debit card, and asked for $40 cash back. After I had left the store, I realized that the cashier hadn't given me the money, so I went back with my receipt to ask about it. I was afraid I would have to go through a lot of rigamarole to get my money, and I wouldn't have really blamed the store if I had. I mean, I've been scammed while working as a cashier, and I know what some rip-off artists are capable of. Fortunately, the guy remembered, and said it was a common problem with the new card machines. They apparently don't actually let the cashier KNOW that the customer has asked for cash back.

My top CD-ROM drive (which is actually a DVD-ROM drive, but I've never used it for that purpose) won't recognize CD's anymore. It used to, so I have no idea what the problem is. I can use the bottom one, but it would be nice to have both drives function properly.

And now, some memes )

Hey, I'm finally finished reading my friends page! I had a few days where I couldn't read much of it, and then one where I didn't really feel like it. Then I spent yesterday and today catching up. It seems like people always write the most when I don't have the chance to read it. Unless it's been a LONG time since I last read it, in which case there are never as many posts as I'd expect.

[livejournal.com profile] 3x1minus1 recently did a Google Image Search meme. I think I might have done it before, but I can't find where, so...if so, here it is again. I'll try to use different images this time.

Step 1. Go to Google Images

Step 2. Find;
Where you grew up
Where you live now
Your name
Your grandma's name
Your fav food
Your fav drink
Your fav song
Your fav smell

Step 3. Post the pics!

This is kind of amusing (link from [livejournal.com profile] revme).

Finally, I've listened to The Tain several times now, and it's pretty cool. It's all one epic song, clocking in at 18 minutes and 35 seconds (according to iTunes, anyway), but it's officially divided into five parts. The Decemberists actually opened with it when I saw them back in October, which was kind of odd, but still cool. The whole thing is pretty typical of the band, and I admire them for coming up with something that long that's interesting and coherent all the way through. I guess I like Part IV, with its female vocals and accordion solo, the best.
