I went to Applebee's with [livejournal.com profile] bethje and Alyssa last night, and I ended up getting three different drinks. I had ordered a Sprite, and I wanted to have a Bananaberry Freeze for dessert. Beth talked me into trying a Bahama Mama (which was good, despite the name), so I ended up getting some mozzarella sticks, in order to prevent having to drink without eating. I also tried a piece of the vegetable pizza appetizer, which was much better than I thought it would be.

In my dream last night, I was looking at an old map of the development where I used to live. In reality, that development is about as old as I am, but the map in the dream dated back to the colonial period.

The library got in the copies of Terry Pratchett's Thud! and The Light Fantastic that I had reserved. That should give me sufficient reading material for a few days.

They're going to be holding a reunion for the Honors College I was in at the end of October, but I doubt I'll be going. It's pretty far away, and they really didn't provide notice very far in advance. It's kind of a shame, since I was thinking that I'd like to see some of the people I knew from college again, but I don't even know who'll be going. I always hear about people who go to reunions, only to find the only other people there are the ones they never talked to (and sometimes actively disliked) back in school.

While looking for information on the origin of the name "Lemony Snicket" (someone on the alt.tv.simpsons newsgroup thought it was a play on "Jiminy Cricket," but I'm pretty sure it's a drink), I came across this page, which has some hidden information on the next book. The games are pretty fun, and one of the vocabulary games (for each word, you've given two options, and you have to choose the wrong ones), it gives the definition "a top diplomat's orange juice" for "Condy's fluid." I mean, how can you NOT find that funny? I'm all caught up on the puzzles, but I actually had to cheat on one of the Commonplace Book quizzes, because I wasn't able to find out what Justice Strauss's famous case had been about. Maybe it was in one of the audio clips, most of which refused to load for me.
