Dracula's Pajama Party
Sep. 2nd, 2005 04:27 pmFirst of all, happy birthday to
3x1minus1! Also, happy belated birthday to
revme, whose Actual Special Day was Tuesday. Today is apparently also the twenty-fifth anniversary of Books of Wonder.
Okay, so, that Monsters, Madness, and Mayhem documentary of which
bethje and I watched the first disc last week or so got a pretty bad rating on Netflix, right? I really didn't think the first disc, dealing with the Devil and witches, was that bad, although it had some serious editing problems and terrible reenactments. We watched the second disc, concerning monsters and superstitions, last night. This one was considerably worse. ( Read more... )
So, yeah. The documentary had potential, and there were some interesting aspects to it, but overall I thought it was rather sloppy. I think it might have inspired a dream I had, though, where someone was playing a video game (I think it was supposed to be Final Fantasy III), and came across a man who thought he was a tiger. He was living in a cave in the town of Tzen, which was also the location of the moveable house from The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures.
Today, I stopped by Borders, and listened to albums by the Ditty Bops and the Dresden Dolls. I think I'm definitely going to buy the Ditty Bops' album, if Beth doesn't get it first. (Since Beth is nice about letting me listen to her CD's, I don't usually buy any of the same albums she does, unless they're by my all-time favorite bands, or else really cheap. As of late, we've actually been buying a fair number of albums to share.) I'm definitely interested in the Dresden Dolls' album, too. The only song of theirs that I'm really that familiar with is "Girl Anachronism," but that's a really good song. It's quite theatrical-sounding, which is cool. Someone from the Frank Black Forum (the same guy who made the mix CD that "Girl Anachronism" was on, actually) sent me another song of theirs, but I haven't had the chance to listen to it yet.
I cataloged a book today with a 2006 publication date. Did it fall through a time warp, or what? {g} I wonder if it contains any valuable information on the future.
In other news, Bob Scott, known far and wide for his rarely updated Eagle-DNA comic, now has a blog. Also, Bob's co-conspirator, Mike Leffel, has some new comics up at his Owlie site.
