If I only had the nerve
Jun. 30th, 2005 07:35 pmLet's see. What do I have to report? Well, first of all,
bethje and I went out to eat at Friendly's yesterday. Then we did some shopping, and ended up not buying anything, except a muffin for Beth.
Speaking of buying things, we still need to pre-order the next Harry Potter book, which is coming out sooner than you might think. Well, okay, I'm sure a lot of Potter fans have the number of days until its release firmly entrenched in their brains, but I haven't been thinking about it all that much. I mean, I'm looking forward to it, but I can't actually remember the exact release date.
And while I'm on the subject of Harry Potter, Beth and I were talking a bit about the house-sorting thing last night. We decided that I'd probably be in Ravenclaw. Why I bring this up is that I kind of have to wonder how many people I know would actually be in Gryffindor. I mean, most of the central child characters in the books are, but how many real people do you know whose defining characteristic is bravery? I suppose you could say people who are drawn to dangerous-but-useful occupations (military, police, firefighting, etc.) would qualify, but that almost seems to me to be a different sort of courage from the kind they're always talking about in books. I don't know.
Hey, wasn't that some nice transition between those first few paragraphs? Unfortunately, I can't think of any more, so I'll just go right ahead and say that Beth and I continued our John Waters movie-watching by viewing Pink Flamingos. I thought it was good, although I'm pretty sure Beth found it funnier than I did. I guess that's only fair, since the other two movies we had out from Netflix were ones that I liked better. (Well, Beth didn't watch Attack of the Clones at all, but since she doesn't like Star Wars, I would assume she wouldn't have enjoyed it much.) Anyway, though, I like John Waters, and want to see more of his work.
Before work today, I tried to play Mario and Luigi, but Roy Koopa just kept kicking my ass. In so many games, I end up getting stuck pretty close to the end. I guess I'll try it again later, but for the time being, I gave up and played a little bit of Phantasy Star. This was an old Sega role-playing game, with a lot of heavily abbreviated item names. I'm not sure if this was a limitation of the original system the game was on (Genesis, I guess?), or of the Game Boy, but so many older games (and even some newer ones) have the items listed as "Lth. Shld." and the like.
So, that's all for now, I suppose.
