Awaken you dreamers, adrift in your beds
Jun. 2nd, 2005 01:50 pmI just woke up from a really good dream. I've had other dreams of the sort before, but this was more detailed than many of them. I was looking through the CDs at a record store in the mall, and I came across a new XTC album. There had been no prior indication that this was coming out, but there it was, with new song titles and all. Thinking it might be too good to be true, I listened to the album, and found out that it really did contain new XTC songs. (I'm sure what I heard really sounded nothing like XTC, but within the context of the dream, it did.) What's more, Andy Partridge, Colin Moulding, and Dave Gregory all played on it. They had aliases, sort of like the ones they used for the Dukes of Stratosphear, but their real names were also given. I suppose my subconscious really wanted to drive home the too-good-to-be-true factor, since one of the tracks was a spoken-word Oz story narrated by Andy. (I'm pretty sure it's been said that Andy read and liked the original book of The Wizard of Oz, and there's apparently an unreleased demo where he meant to mention L. Frank Baum, but got him mixed up with Frank L. Richards. I seriously doubt he's familiar enough with the Oz series to come up with what appeared on the record, though.) The album only cost around $15 (kind of a lot, to be sure, but less than you'd usually find a new album for in a mall record store), and I was definitely planning on getting it, without even bothering to shop around. Then I woke up. Oh, well.
Later in the morning,
bethje bought me breakfast at McDonald's, which was good. Then she went to the doctor's and passed out, which wasn't so good. She's okay now, though. I also found out today that she ordered me some free stuff from one of those crazy religious radio stations, which should make for some interesting reading.
