Spoilers for last night's Simpsons episode )

I also watched the latest Martin Bashir special on Michael Jackson, which [livejournal.com profile] bethje had taped. I don't think I need to say anything about how freaky the guy is, but I do think Jacko's attorney kind of had a point when he mentioned that the plaintiff in the case consulted a lawyer before going to the police. I actually seem to recall hearing something else about the woman filing frivolous and/or suspicious lawsuits in the past. If true, I don't know that it really has any bearing on my thoughts about Michael's guilt or innocence, but it makes me wonder about her scruples as a mother. (Come to think of it, she DID let her kid stay in a known weirdo's bed.) Oh, and I also wonder what it must be like to work at Neverland. I mean, I think Jackson said something in an earlier interview about sometimes going on a ride in the middle of the night. Does this mean that, say, the Ferris wheel operator is on call 24 hours a day?

I'm sure you've all heard by now about the taped conversation with Dubya, and how he essentially admitted to smoking pot, but said he wouldn't answer questions about it because he didn't want kids to try what he tried. Somehow I doubt this would have been a problem. ("Look at me, Mommy! I'm getting high, just like President Bush!") On the other hand, maybe I shouldn't be so sure, considering the frightening cult of hero worship that's grown up around the guy. I mean, it's especially disturbing because I think he's a bad president; but even if I thought he was doing a good job, he's still just a human, and a rather dumb one at that.
