Sentence first, verdict afterwards
Jan. 8th, 2005 03:29 pmI'm working through almost a week's worth of entries on my friends page. I wrote a few entries while I was in Albuquerque, but I didn't do much reading of other people's journals. That leaves me quite a bit of catching up to do, but I think I'm through with most of it now. I can only imagine how all those people with upwards of 100 LJ friends would feel in this situation. Anyway, I came across this on
zimbra1006's journal, and I thought it might be fun. Basically, I'm repeating the first sentence I wrote in my journal in every month of 2004.
January: I didn't do anything special for this New Year's Eve.
February: I didn't watch any Super Bowl last night (not that this is anything unusual for me; I never watch football), but I DID hear a (non-Pixies) Frank Black song on the radio for what might have been the first time.
March: Yes, I'm stealing a joke somebody made on the Frank Black Forum for my subject line. (Since that's kind of more metadata on the title than an actual first sentence, I'll also include the next sentence: So, I watched that American Idol "Uncut, Uncensored and Untalented" special last night (the name of which was inaccurate, by the way, since there WAS some censorship in it).)
April: I briefly considered making some April Fool's entry about hating Oz books now or something, but...nah.
May: I don't really have much to say on last week's American Idol.
June: After Beth finished with school today, we went out to Pizza Hut for lunch.
July: In my continuing tradition of acknowledging holidays I don't celebrate, happy Canada Day!
August: It's been so hot and muggy as of late.
September: So, it's the beginning of a new month.
October: I begin this post with another anecdote from Family Radio.
November: Another day, another post nobody will care about.
December: I first got a blog back in September 2000, shortly before starting graduate school.
Hmm, anyone notice a pattern? If I had to find one, I'd say it's that I didn't do much of anything, yet I felt the need to keep MENTIONING that I didn't do much of anything. Maybe I should change the name of my journal to "Things I Didn't Do." Maybe I could expand it into a Magnetic Fields reference, and call it "The Things I Did and Didn't Do." That just screams out, "Hey! This is a journal!" a little too much for my taste, though, so I think I'll just stick with "Stratovania," at least for now.
