Life is random
May. 18th, 2005 05:24 pmI love how the iPod Shuffle is being marketed as if not being able to choose what songs actually play as a GOOD thing. I mean, I usually listen to my music on random when I'm at my computer, but I still like to be able to make a choice occasionally. I wonder if Apple is going to start applying the same concept to other products. How about a computer that runs programs totally at random? Or maybe a watch? Hey, it's 1:30 now, but who knows what time it will be the next minute?
Seriously, though,
bethje and I watched Requiem for a Dream last night. It was one of the first two movies we rented from Netflix. We're moving into the twenty-first century! {g} Anyway, I hadn't really seen a movie like it before. It was kind of disturbing, especially the parts with Ellen Burstyn's character's pill addiction. I wouldn't say I was deeply affected by it, but it was pretty messed up. If I weren't already dead set against doing drugs, it would probably have made me think twice about it.
On a lighter but related note, this movie was actually referenced on the Simpsons episode "I'm Spelling As Fast As I Can," when Homer eats the Ribwich. So I guess watching the movie was yet another step in my quest to understand Simpsons references that I didn't get the first time.
Today, I did some more cataloging. I've been hearing rumblings that someone might replace me at circulation soon, so I'll be just doing that in the near future. Most of what I cataloged today were endless versions of the Cinderella story.
