Buy somethin' will ya!
Jan. 26th, 2005 01:33 pmYesterday was my grandfather (mom's dad)'s birthday. If he were still alive, he would have turned 85. It was also
zaph's birthday, so happy belated birthday to him.
On my way to work today, I stopped by GameStop, and was stuck with a nosy salesman, who asked me questions about what game systems I had, and tried to push me into buying stuff. He also talked about how he had been sick or injured or something, and spent all of his time playing video games. I can't recall having an experience like that in a GameStop before. Usually the employees just stand behind the counter and talk amongst themselves. Maybe sales have been low recently, or maybe it's just that one guy. I don't know. Anyway, I WAS going to buy a copy of the Phantasy Star Collection for Game Boy Advance, but it turned out they had sold it and left the box on the shelf. They offered to find out if any other GameStops had that game, but I declined. I probably WILL buy that game if I see it for the same price at another store, but, for now, I guess it's better that I kept the $15.
After that, I went to Borders, where I also didn't buy anything. They had a copy of The Art of Discworld, which I looked through for some time, and which I kind of want. At $30, though, t's a little pricy for the likes of me. Maybe if it ever comes out in paperback.
So, I've done a fair amount of shopping, but very little actual buying. The only things I DID buy were food items--a Wawa Italian hoagie for lunch, and two slices of pizza for immediate consumption.
