Corleone Family Radio

I generally like the Biblical specials on the History Channel, but those reenactments look kind of ridiculous sometimes. One of my favorites was from the special on Joseph (the New Testament one) shown around Easter, where there was a scene of him trying to decide whether or not to stone his wife.

Speaking of the Bible, Harold Camping has seriously suggested that Noah's Flood was caused when "God put the earth on a path so that it would pass through a great rain cloud in deep space." That actually reminds me of an idea I came up with when I was in elementary school. I believe I called it the Floating Ocean Nebula, and it was used by celestial giants as a swimming pool. I guess that's the kind of thing you come up with when you've read a fair number of kids' mythology and astronomy books.

Yesterday, I went out with [livejournal.com profile] bethje and her Uncle John to eat at Charlie Brown's Steakhouse. I had the parmesan-crusted chicken, which was very good, if a bit overwhelming after a little while. Not so great were the seasoned fries and green beans, but you can't win 'em all. For dessert, I had banana pudding.

Beth and I watched Godfather 2 last night. I don't know that I'd agree it was better than the first, like the critics always say, but it was still a good movie.

I like Godfather way more than II. (III is right out; couldn't even finish that one. Should probably go back to it at some point, though...). The thing is, Vito's a waaaay more compelling character than Michael. And, as such, the parts of II with Vito's backstory are riveting, and the Michael stuff... less so. And since III has no Vito at all, what with him being dead for what 20, 30 years, it's sorta like "blegh." Also, Sofia Coppola is a wicked awesome directrix, but a goddawful actress.

Yeah, I think I'd have to agree with Vito compared to Michael. Beth and I were actually discussing this the other day. Not only is he more interesting, but he's also less of a jerk, at least to his own family and associates.

I really know nothing about Part III. I'm honestly not sure where they'd go with the story after the end of II.
